Donna Hollander was born in Los Angeles California in the mid 1950's. Growing up just outside of L.A. in what use
to be dairy farms. She attended Pitzer college in Claremont CA. and received a masters in sculpture from California State University Long Beach.

Donna taught Sculpture at a community College in Orange county for 4 years and carved stone,lots of it.
After being struck in 1986 by a drunk driver while in a crosswalk the need to pay medical bills propelled her to
commercial art.

In 1994 she married John Young an industrial designer. Together they developed a line of giftwere.
In 1997 their daughter Ahrial was born and art took to the back burners for 2 years. In 1999 Donna started
working with mosaic.

Mosaic is a metaphor for how I get creative time with family: Bits and pieces here and there.
Using dichroic glass brings a level of magic to my work.
"Mosaic is eye candy, colorful and fluid. It's sculpting with color".
"It's any material you want to use. It's ancient and never gets old. It's permanent. It marks time".
